David Ortiz, widely regarded as one of the greatest designated hitters of all time, played 20 MLB seasons from 1997 to 2016, primarily with the Boston Red Sox. He began his career with the Minnesota Twins but found stardom after joining the Red Sox in 2003. He played a pivotal role in breaking the team's 86-year World Series championship drought, contributing significantly to their 2004, 2007, & 2013 championships. Ortiz was named World Series MVP in 2013 & is a 10x All-Star, 7x Silver Slugger recipient, & received eight Edgar Martínez Award as the league's best designated hitter. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.
