E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is a film about a gentle alien is accidentally left behind on Earth by his spaceship. He is discovered by a young boy named Elliott (played by Henry Thomas), who secretly brings him home. As Elliott & his siblings' bond with the alien whom they name E.T. (played by Matthew De Meritt) they learn about his abilities & help him evade government agents who are searching for him. E.T. becomes ill, & the children work together to help him "phone home" & reunite with his people. In a dramatic & emotional ending, E.T. is rescued by his spaceship, leaving behind a message of love, friendship, & understanding.
