Robert Redford was a highly influential actor, director, producer, & environmental activist whose career spanned more than six decades. He began on television in the late 1950s, with appearances on Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone & Route 66 then broke into stardom with Broadway’s Barefoot in the Park (1963) & its 1967 film adaptation. Redford was then cast in iconic leading roles in films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Sting (1973, which earned his only Oscar nomination for acting), All the President’s Men (1976), The Natural (1984) & appeared in Avengers: Endgame (2019) as his final on-screen role. His contributions earned him numerous honors including Best Picture & Best Director for his directorial debut with Ordinary People (1980).
