Sir Alec Guinness was a highly respected actor, widely regarded as one of the greatest performers of the 20th century. He began as a classical stage actor with the Old Vic theatre in London, performing Shakespeare & other major works. Guinness became internationally famous through a wide range of films, including The Bridge on the River Kwai, winning an Academy Award for Best Actor, Kind Hearts and Coronets where he played eight different characters in one film & Star Wars portraying Obi-Wan Kenobi. Even though he was already a legendary actor, his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi made him globally recognizable.
