Smokey and the Bandit (1977) is a fast-paced action-comedy centered around a high-stakes bootlegging run across the American South. Bo "Bandit" Darville (Burt Reynolds) is hired to illegally transport 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana, Texas to Atlanta, Georgia, a run of about 28 hours. At the time, Coors was not legally distributed east of the Mississippi River, making the run both risky & lucrative. Bandit drives a black Pontiac Trans Am as a "blocker" to distract law enforcement while Cledus "Snowman" Snow (Jerry Reed) hauls the beer & a wild chase across multiple states ensues, with Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason) in hot pursuit. Along the way, Bandit meets Carrie aka "Frog" (Sally Field), a runaway bride who hitches a ride with Bandit, & they develop a romantic connection.
