Winfield is a former professional Major League Baseball right fielder widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes in sports history during his 22-year career. He has played for the San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, California Angels, Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Indians. Winfield is a World Series champion,12x All-Star, 7x Gold Glove Award, 6x Silver Slugger Award recipient, Roberto Clemente Award recipient, NL RBI leader. After retiring, Winfield became a special assistant to the executive director of the MLB Players Association & has been involved in charitable work, including founding the David M. Winfield Foundation, which provided health care, education, & community programs. In 2001 he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
