Smith is a former Major League Baseball pitcher, widely regarded as one of the greatest closers. In his 18-year career, he played for the Chicago Cubs (1980–1987), Boston Red Sox (1988–1990), St. Louis Cardinals (1990–1993), New York Yankees (1993), Baltimore Orioles (1994), California Angels (1995–1996), Cincinnati Reds (1996) & Montreal Expos (1997). From 1993-2006 he held the career saves record in MLB. Smith is a 7x All-Star, 3x Rolaids Relief Man Award recipient, 4x Saves Leader & was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.
