This MLB baseball has been hand signed & inscribed "1951 World Series BA -.458" by Monte Irvin.

Irvin was a professional baseball player & a key figure in the integration of Major League Baseball. He began his professional career in 1938 with the Newark Eagles of the Negro National League & was known as one of the league’s best hitters, winning multiple batting titles & helping the Eagles win the 1946 Negro World Series. He also briefly played in the Mexican League, where he won the Triple Crown in 1942. Irvin debuted in MLB in 1949 with the New York Giants & played his last year with the Chicago Cubs. He became one of the early African American players in the majors & helped bridged the gap between the Negro Leagues & Major League Baseball, paving the way for future generations. He is a World Series Champion, 1951 NL RBI leader & 1952 MLB All-Star. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973.
