Bill Clinton served as the 42nd President of the United States from January 20, 1993, to January 20, 2001. Before becoming president, he was the Governor of Arkansas serving multiple terms. As president, he oversaw a period of economic growth, job creation, & a balanced federal budget in the late 1990s. His administration focused on policies like welfare reform, crime reduction, & trade agreements such as NAFTA. He was impeached in 1998 by the House of Representatives over charges of perjury & obstruction of justice related to a personal scandal; his affair with then house intern Monina Lewinsky. He was acquitted by the Senate in 1999, so he remained in office & finished his second term. Clinton has remained active through the Clinton Foundation, working on global issues like health, climate change, & economic development.
